If you are a visitor to Fairfield, we want to welcome you to our friendly,
historic community. If you live here, we know you are proud to be a citizen
of our growing community. There is much to see while in our “Main Street
City”. You can wind up a tour of the restored and renovated shops and office
buildings surrounding the Freestone County Court House, with a visit to our
museum on Main Street. This already popular museum is planning a major
renovation and expansion in 2004. Another place of particular interest is
the historic Moody-Bradley House, a pre-Civil War home built by W.L. Moody
for his bride Elizabeth Bradley.
If you are looking for outdoor recreation, be sure to visit Fairfield Lake
State Park located on Fairfield Lake, just northeast of town. The fishing
is great and the camping, hiking and picnicking facilities are among the
best and most popular in the state. If you are not into camping, try one
of our many motels for a good night’s rest and relaxation.
Fairfield is gearing up for some major increases in tourism and growth as
citizen committees to promote Economic Development and Tourism are formed.
Whether you are looking for a place to visit and “unwind” from a hectic
metropolitan lifestyle, or a place to relocate and develop a new rural
lifestyle, we are glad you chose Fairfield and want to take this
opportunity to invite you to stay or come back soon.
